High School Scale Requirements

• All 12 Major Scales and Related Arpeggios

  • • • All Scales are in Concert Pitch

      • All scales and arpeggios must be played from memory

      • All Flutes, Bb Clarinets and Mallets will play their scales and arpeggios two octaves. All other instruments will be one octave.

• Chromatic Scale

  • • • Requirements by instrument

        • • Flute and Oboe - C to C 2 octaves

          • Bassoon - F below the staff to F above the staff 2 octaves

          • Eb & Bb Soprano Clarinet - From low F to high G above the staff

          • Alto, Bass, Contrabass Clarinet - From low F to top line F 2 octaves

          • All Saxophones - From low C to high F

          • Trumpet and Low Brass - F to F 2 octaves (CONCERT PITCH)

          • Horn - G to G 2 Octaves (Written Pitch)

          • Mallets - A to A 2 octaves
